Woman across the western world are up in arms about a recent US airstrike in Afghanistan, a strike in which the weapon used is described as the "mother of all bombs". The main source of their annoyance is not down to the military action itself or the loss of 90 lives - but of the use of the word "Mother" in the title used to describe the bomb.
Woman's groups suggest the phrase is both "sexist" and "degrading" and have pressed US representatives for an explanation for naming the device in such a way.
Scandal HQ caught up with Rachel Brickley, member of "The Female Brigade" advocacy group and all round sour sheila indeed. We asked her about the plans to protest outside the US Embassy in London.
"I don't know much about what happened, I was watching soaps and reading glossy magazines when the phone called. It was Charlene next door saying she heard from Megan down the road that some lad on the TV was calling a bomb "the mother of all bombs". We decided there and then that we might as well start a protest about it so here we are. Why can't the bomb or device or whatever it was be called "The father of all bombs". We are sick of being treated like second class citizens."
Many of the women our reporters spoke with say they will boycott any newspaper that prints the phrase. When pressed further none of the woman questioned were able to name any paper they have seen the term but "are 100% sure" they have seen it somewhere.
